Our Pastor

Pastor Jim Wiebe was born and raised in Southern Manitoba, in a Mennonite home. He got interested in Baptist preaching after watching a Bible documentary on end times prophecy and got saved after listening to a sermon entitled "Doubts About Your Salvation" in early 2013.  Pastor Wiebe and his family started attending various Baptist churches in 2014, and found out one by one that they taught a version of works-based salvation.  Since his lack of success of finding a local church that taught correctly on salvation, he formed a fellowship together with some likeminded families.  For 4+ years he had been leading weekly preaching and singing services and soul winning.  In September of 2022, Pastor Aaron Thompson expressed an interest in helping the group, and on November 3, 2022, Sure Foundation Baptist Church Winnipeg held their first service.  Pastor Thompson ordained Brother Jim as an evangelist on June 11, 2023, and on June 9, 2024, he was ordained by Pastor Thompson as the pastor of Fortress Baptist Church.  Pastor Jim Wiebe is married to his wife, Judy, and they have seven children.  Pastor Wiebe lives outside of Winnipeg, Manitoba.
